We proudly created the following photo gallery and information guide to help you learn about the city where you want to live.
We relocated from California to Texas in 2013, moving half way across the nation to a city where I knew no one, was intimidating to say the least. Not to mention, I was pulling my daughter from her school at the age of nine where she was rooted in with great friends and a sense of comfort. I knew I had to make the right decision the first time, there was no way I was going to make her move elementary schools twice. I spent countless hours researching different cities on various online portals, learning everything I possibly could; after all I couldn't just hop on a plane every time I was curious about something. I wanted a city with a great sense of community, top schools, historic heritage, ambiance, entertainment and plenty of parks. Our first trip out to TX was all about figuring out if we could make the move from CA and narrowing down our search. We drove at least 200 miles a day from north to south Dallas covering every city we researched prior to making the trip. I think the thing that stood out to us the most on our first trip was when we just so happened to drive by a school when the bell rang, kids came poring out the front doors, the bike racks were about as full as they could be and not one bike was locked. The kids proceeded to ride home from school with their friends, completely care free. I remembered experiencing that as a kid, but as an adult in Los Angeles, it was a sight unseen. What excites my husband and I the most is being able to see our kids be kids, go on walks and trails throughout our own neighborhood, ride their bikes home from school, and play at the neighborhood parks. The Dallas suburbs have such a great sense of community, there's no other place I'd want to raise my kids.
